The theme of parents and children is timeless, touching on some of the most fundamental human experiences: love, trust, protection, mutual understanding, and continuity across generations. The relationship between father and son, in particular, often embodies both intimacy and distance — the desire to guide, to emulate, and at times to define oneself independently. It raises enduring questions of identity, memory, responsibility, and the transmission of values from one generation to the next.
Lechbinska Gallery is pleased to support the artist in this exploration of heritage, identity, and personal formation. In his series of sacred art, Sergey Zhernov — a jeweler and artist from Kyiv — reinterprets the works of his father, a master metal artisan and creator of liturgical objects, alongside biblical motifs. It was in his father’s workshop that Sergey first encountered the language of materials and acquired the foundations of metal craftsmanship.
